In this article, we\u2019ll show you how to create custom reports in Google Analytics 4.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Open the Explore Section<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Create a New Custom Report by going to <strong>Google Analytics &gt; Explorations<\/strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3676\" src=\"https:\/\/gaconnector.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Explore.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"622\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gaconnector.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Explore.jpg 622w, https:\/\/gaconnector.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Explore-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gaconnector.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Explore-60x42.jpg 60w, https:\/\/gaconnector.com\/docs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Explore-150x106.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"923\">\n<p data-start=\"809\" data-end=\"923\">Click the <strong data-start=\"819\" data-end=\"830\">+ Blank<\/strong> option (or choose a template like <em data-start=\"865\" data-end=\"876\">Free Form<\/em>, <em data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"898\">Funnel Exploration<\/em>, or <em data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"921\">Path Exploration<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"923\">\n<p data-start=\"809\" data-end=\"923\">Give your exploration a name. In our example, we\u2019ll keep it simple: <strong>CRM Leads Report.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Each GA4 exploration can have multiple tabs, but for our example we\u2019ll stick with one tab and keep the default name <em data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1150\">Tab 1<\/em>.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1151\">Step 2: Choose the Report Technique<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1268\">GA4 offers different <strong data-start=\"1220\" data-end=\"1234\">techniques<\/strong> (similar to UA\u2019s \u201creport types\u201d):<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1617\">\n<li data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1380\">\n<p data-start=\"1272\" data-end=\"1380\"><strong data-start=\"1272\" data-end=\"1285\">Free Form<\/strong> \u2013 Most flexible. Works like the standard UA \u201cExplorer\u201d type, with tables, charts, and filters.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1445\">\n<p data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1445\"><strong data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1405\">Funnel Exploration<\/strong> \u2013 Shows user progression through steps.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1446\" data-end=\"1499\">\n<p data-start=\"1448\" data-end=\"1499\"><strong data-start=\"1448\" data-end=\"1468\">Path Exploration<\/strong> \u2013 Visualizes navigation paths.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1560\">\n<p data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1560\"><strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1521\">Segment Overlap<\/strong> \u2013 Compares multiple audience segments.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1617\">\n<p data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1617\"><strong data-start=\"1563\" data-end=\"1580\">User Explorer<\/strong> \u2013 Looks at individual user journeys.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1619\" data-end=\"1715\">For our example, we\u2019ll choose <strong data-start=\"1649\" data-end=\"1662\">Free Form<\/strong>, which most closely matches the old \u201cExplorer\u201d type.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"1745\">Step 3: Add Metrics<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"1818\">In GA4, <strong data-start=\"1755\" data-end=\"1766\">metrics<\/strong> are added from the <strong data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1805\">Variables panel<\/strong> on the left.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"1863\">\n<p data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"1863\">Under <strong data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1840\">Metrics<\/strong>, click the <strong data-start=\"1852\" data-end=\"1857\">+<\/strong> icon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1864\" data-end=\"2167\">\n<p data-start=\"1867\" data-end=\"1946\">Search for and select the metrics you want.<br data-start=\"1910\" data-end=\"1913\" \/>In our example, we\u2019ll include:<\/p>\n<ul data-end=\"1963\">Salesforce Opportunities Closed Won<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1951\" data-end=\"1963\">\n<p data-start=\"1953\" data-end=\"1963\">Salesforce Opportunity Amount<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2169\" data-end=\"2221\">\n<p data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2221\">Click <strong data-start=\"2178\" data-end=\"2188\">Import<\/strong> to add them to your exploration.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 data-start=\"2228\" data-end=\"2254\">Step 4: Add Dimensions<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2256\" data-end=\"2330\">Dimensions let you break down your metrics into categories, similar to UA.<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2477\">\n<li data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2378\">\n<p data-start=\"2335\" data-end=\"2378\">Under <strong data-start=\"2341\" data-end=\"2355\">Dimensions<\/strong>, click the <strong data-start=\"2367\" data-end=\"2372\">+<\/strong> icon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2379\" data-end=\"2456\">\n<p data-start=\"2382\" data-end=\"2456\">Search for and select:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1951\" data-end=\"2167\">\n<li data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2049\">\n<p data-start=\"1986\" data-end=\"2049\">Salesforce Leads Created <em data-start=\"2011\" data-end=\"2047\">(imported via GA Connector events)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2053\" data-end=\"2089\">\n<p data-start=\"2055\" data-end=\"2089\">Salesforce Opportunities Created<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2053\" data-end=\"2089\">\n<p data-start=\"2055\" data-end=\"2089\">Source \/ Medium (or another dimension you want).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2457\" data-end=\"2477\">\n<p data-start=\"2460\" data-end=\"2477\">Click <strong data-start=\"2466\" data-end=\"2476\">Import<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 data-start=\"2581\" data-end=\"2617\">Step 5: Apply Filters (Optional)<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2619\" data-end=\"2669\">If you want to limit the data shown, add a filter:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"2671\" data-end=\"2861\">\n<li data-start=\"2671\" data-end=\"2732\">\n<p data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2732\">In the <em data-start=\"2681\" data-end=\"2695\">Tab Settings<\/em> panel, find the <strong data-start=\"2712\" data-end=\"2723\">Filters<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2733\" data-end=\"2861\">\n<p data-start=\"2736\" data-end=\"2861\">Drag in a dimension (e.g., <em data-start=\"2763\" data-end=\"2780\">Source \/ Medium<\/em>) and set your condition.<br data-start=\"2805\" data-end=\"2808\" \/>Example: Include only traffic from <em data-start=\"2846\" data-end=\"2860\">Google \/ CPC<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 data-start=\"2868\" data-end=\"2899\">Step 6: Arrange Your Report<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2901\" data-end=\"2933\">Your setup might look like this:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2935\" data-end=\"3163\">\n<li data-start=\"2935\" data-end=\"2964\">\n<p data-start=\"2937\" data-end=\"2964\"><strong data-start=\"2937\" data-end=\"2945\">Rows<\/strong>: Session default channel group, Engaged sessions per user, Events per session, Event Count, Salesforce Leads Created, Salesforce Opportunities Created etc.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2965\" data-end=\"3128\"><strong>Values<\/strong>: Salesforce Opportunities Closed Won, Salesforce Opportunity Amount etc.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3129\" data-end=\"3163\">\n<p data-start=\"3131\" data-end=\"3163\"><strong data-start=\"3131\" data-end=\"3142\">Filters<\/strong>: Optional conditions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"3165\" data-end=\"3268\">You can also switch between table, bar chart, or line chart visualizations in the <em data-start=\"3247\" data-end=\"3261\">Tab Settings<\/em> panel.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"3275\" data-end=\"3312\">Step 7: Save and View Your Report<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3314\" data-end=\"3348\">When you\u2019re happy with your setup:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"3350\" data-end=\"3487\">\n<li data-start=\"3350\" data-end=\"3385\">\n<p data-start=\"3353\" data-end=\"3385\">Click <strong data-start=\"3359\" data-end=\"3367\">Save<\/strong> at the top right.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3386\" data-end=\"3430\">\n<p data-start=\"3389\" data-end=\"3430\">Your custom GA4 exploration is now ready.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3431\" data-end=\"3487\">\n<p data-start=\"3434\" data-end=\"3487\">You can revisit it anytime under the <strong data-start=\"3471\" data-end=\"3482\">Explore<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Note: If you are using Zoho CRM, Pipedrive or Hubspot you might have different key events. Also, this is just an example on how to create the report, you can add different Dimensions or Metrics in your report.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s it! You now know how to create a <strong data-start=\"3721\" data-end=\"3745\">custom report in GA4<\/strong> using the Explore workspace.
